Chairman of RAK Courts Department participates in Ministry of Interior’s Ramadan Council
Participants in the Ministry of Interior’s Ramadan Council which was hosted by Sheikh Miftah bin Ali Al Khatri at his council in Al Hamraniya area in Ras Al Khaimah recommended the need to develop radical solutions to fatal road accidents which take the lives of a number of citizens and residents, as part of the Ministry of Interior’s strategic plan aimed at not registering any deaths from car accidents in 2021, where the council urged the concerned parties on the need for parental involvement and making them aware of the seriousness of their children’s reckless and careless driving.
Chancellor Ahmed Al Khatri, Chairman of Rak Courts Department said that the country is making every effort to reduce traffic accidents and ensure the safety of all road users, demanding the immediate enforcement of traffic penalties that are committed, to be a deterrent to reckless drivers and traffic laws violators, pointing out that such a policy is in place in many European countries, and stressing on the need for traffic patrols on the roads and streets and tightening control over all buses especially mass transit buses, and the need to ensure the experience of these bus drivers.
Al Khatri also explained that running a red light in case it results in death incidents is more akin to voluntary manslaughter than involuntary manslaughter, stressing that respecting these laws and not violating them is the only way to reduce accident rates and resulting deaths, pointing out that parents are liable for their children’s negligent driving on the roads as any traffic accidents committed by the children will be the responsibility of their guardians.
